Travallini South Australian Durif 2016 x 1 dozen

Durif (pronounced “door-eef”) is a French red wine grape variety that was cross-bred from Syrah. In the USA it is known as Petite Syrah. It produces robust tannic wines with a spicy, plummy flavour. Grown in Australia since 1908, it has been used in lots of big bold age-worthy red wines.

The fruit for this red wine was hand-selected from a premium vineyard at Barmera in South Australia. It was 20% oak matured and 80% tank matured. Deep dark purple-black in colour, with spicy aromas, it has hints of vanilla from the American oak, and ripe fruit flavours. A big rich full-flavoured high alcohol (16.1%!) wine with a lingering finish. 12 bottles

This vintage won a Bronze Medal at the 2016 Melbourne International Wine Show.

16.1% alc/vol approx 9.4 standard drinks, contains sulphites, may contain traces of nuts.
